It’s hot out there. Whilst hiding from the sun I surf around a bit. I like online collections sites, where you can just browse and find interesting things. The Works Progress Administration (WPA) collection at the Library of Congress in the USA has some absolute gems, poster-wise.
We do tend to think of Europe for classic 20th century posters. Probably some of the artists represented in the WPA collection were European émigrés. It is a cracking collection, covering various poster styles, but they hold their own. All presented on a website that is basic in the extreme. But despite that, the posters are the thing and you can find plenty of them.
This poster from 1941 made me smile because the hot weather makes enthusiastic fruit eaters out of the best of us.
